In the last three months between leaving Australia and planning to add more to this new blog, I have been travelling through Indonesia. It was ambitious to cast away most of my former possessions and develop a new transient practice using camera, laptop and surroundings.
So far the performing role of this tourist has been one of consumer and one of producer. An extended holiday but with intent, to foster new artistic practice.
The actions of absorbing a new culture through language, food and tradition has been cultivating in my head for the last few months, and the simple change in the pace has enabled me to reflect on the road. My plan is to continue travelling around Asia until February 2013 (there is a 6 week residency at Fremantle Arts Centre) and discover what opportunities are there for developing performance and video projection exchanges with local artists.
